BRIEF DESCRIPTION
 Students create cartoon vocabulary videos or cartoon videos to explain a science concept/objective.
 
PROCEDURES
 
Goal(s):
 Students demonstrate understanding of science vocabulary words or concepts.
 
Specific Objectives:
 Students construct educational cartoon video clips to explain science vocabulary words or concepts.
 
Required Materials:
computer to access www.goanimate.com (need an email account to save the cartoon)
 
Anticipatory Set (Lead-in):
 Show examples of the expected outcome (30 second cartoon clips) using the goanimate program.
 
Lesson Plan Procedure:
Spend 5 minutes showing the examples and demonstrating how to create a cartoon video clip.

Have students select current vocabulary words or concept from the current chapter to create a cartoon for and sketch out a quick storyboard.  They should explain their concept to a shoulder partner and get feedback. (10 minutes)

Students have 15 minutes to create their cartoon.

Students email the finished work to the teacher.



 
Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set):
 Teacher can show student work and students provide written feedback to peers on each other's cartoon.
 
Assessments & notes
 
Plan for Independent Practice:
 Students can create additional clips as homework.  Teacher can post student work on website or discussion board (like collaborize classroom) for students to view and provide feedback to each other.
 
Assessment Based on Objectives:
 Teacher will be able to evaluate understanding of vocabulary and concepts by reviewing student cips for accuracy.
 
Adaptations & Extensions:
